CALIFORNIA– The Yes on Prop 34 campaign released the following statement after the final returns confirmed the passage of Prop 34.
“For years, healthcare corporations have misused billions in taxpayer funds meant for patients to fund pet projects, and wasted it on things like luxury condos, CEO bonuses, naming rights on sports stadiums, and political campaigns. These abuses jeopardize continued federal support for the 340B program. With the passage of Proposition 34, California voters have taken action to close the loophole that allows for this abuse and misuse of public funds while also making permanent Governor Newsom’s prior related reforms dealing with the Medi-Cal RX program.”
“Our coalition of patient groups, nurses, firefighters, seniors, LGBTQ advocates, and others backed Proposition 34 to take a stand against this blatant misuse of public dollars, and remains committed to fighting to ensure these public health care dollars are used to protect patients and provide care.”
